Sukainah Al-Waely
Sukainah is a dedicated and experienced solicitor specialising in family law. She qualified in 2016, having begun her legal career in 2008, and brings over 15 years of professional experience to her work. Sukainah holds a 2:1 (borderline First Class) degree in Law (LLB Hons*) and completed her Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice, part of the University of Oxford.
Since qualifying, Sukainah has built a strong reputation for her ability to handle complex family law cases with precision, insight and sensitivity. Her approach is calm, strategic, and always focused on achieving the right outcome for her clients.
Professional Strategic Client Focussed
Sukainah is known for her ability to resolve disputes efficiently while maintaining a supportive and client-centred approach. She understands that legal matters—particularly in family law—often carry deep emotional weight. Whether dealing with a breakdown in a relationship, safeguarding a child’s welfare, or helping a client remain in the UK, Sukainah offers clarity and reassurance at every stage.
Clients consistently describe her as approachable, empathetic, and someone they feel genuinely understands their concerns. She is deeply committed to reducing the stress and uncertainty that often accompanies legal proceedings, and has developed long-standing relationships with clients who value her integrity and practical advice.
Handling Complex Cases with Confidence
Sukainah regularly advises on challenging and high-stakes legal matters. Some of her recent work includes:
Challenging Jurisdiction and Overseas Divorce: In a recent case, Sukainah represented a client whose overseas divorce was disregarded by their spouse, who sought to pursue a separate divorce and financial application in the UK. Sukainah challenged jurisdiction, guided the court on correct procedure, and coordinated a joint expert opinion, which confirmed the overseas divorce was valid. The UK proceedings were dismissed, protecting her client from unnecessary litigation.
High Net Worth Financial Disputes: She has acted in cases involving substantial assets and historical financial orders. In one unusual matter involving two concurrent UK marriages, Sukainah successfully argued that the second marriage and associated financial order were invalid. The court agreed, and the case was resolved based on the first marriage, securing a fair and legally sound outcome.
Children’s Matters: Sukainah has acted in a wide range of children’s proceedings, including disputes involving covert recordings, parental alienation, special measures for neurodivergent clients, and applications to vary existing orders. Her work in these areas reflects her commitment to safeguarding children’s welfare while ensuring her clients’ voices are heard.
Giving Back ThroughPro Bono Work
Outside of her practice, Sukainah actively supports several charitable organisations, with a particular focus on child welfare. She offers pro bono legal assistance to charities working with orphaned children and vulnerable families. Her work in this area reflects her broader commitment to using the law to create meaningful, positive change in people’s lives.
